No Burden of Possessions

No Burden of Possessions
Martha Northington

I try NOT to carry a purse anymore. That’s my goal. When I wear jeans or khakis, I use my pockets for keys, a lipstick and some money. I feel freer without a purse. I think that men are freer because they don’t carry purses. Though I know a lot of men are lugging laptops now and they don’t look so free to me anymore.

Some women have their whole life in their handbags. They carry everything – just in case. They might need a flash light or an extra pair of shoes.

It’s a burden of possession, don’t you think? I don’t want that anymore.

The next thing to get rid of are all my keys except the house key and the car key.

I am aspiring to have no responsibilities that require a purse.
