Charlie's Diaper Bag

Charlie Bean's Diaper Bag
Caroline Hansen

I had always heard that I would stop carrying a purse once my baby was born. I love my red leather bag and I wasn't ready to part with it. I had purchased a really great looking diaper bag (but very impractical) that is silk with dragonflies. It is also red and I'm ready.

But when it came time to leave the house with little Charlie Bean, it seemed so much easier to throw my cell phone, wallet and palm pilot into his new diaper bag than to carry my purse and the diaper bag.

And now what happens is that all my things fall to the bottom of the bag because they are so much heavier than his diapers, blankets and clothes. And I don't even hear my cell phone anymore because there is so much padding covering it.

Yesterday I left the house to go on errands for the first time without Charlie. It was easier to leave with the diaper bag rather than pull all my stuff out and transfer it, but at every stop, I had to dig through the diapers to reach my wallet.

I keep getting compliments on this diaper bag. I did buy it because it didn't look like the typical diaper bag, so I guess Charlie and I can share it for the next many months. However, I will have to commandeer a bottle pouch for my wallet to keep it within reach.
